The BBD Spirit Wear Store is now open!

Orders will be accepted online until November 20th. 2022 @ 11:59pm, and no orders will accepted after the online store closes. Once the orders are completed, they will be packaged by Swimmer/Family and you’ll receive an email from The Varsity Shop letting you know that that your order is ready to be picked up. We expect orders to be ready by December 18th, just in time for holiday gift giving!

The Varsity Shop will have some size samples of some products available to try on, but when deciding on sizes we would always recommend to go bigger rather than smaller. Flint FLY Meet Recap

Posted by Birmingham Blue Dolphins at Nov 10, 2022 8:07AM PST

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

We saw some fast swims at the Flint Meet this past weekend!

We had many first places and we collected many Y State, Zone and MAG cuts.

In the morning, we had first place finishes from
Jake Brown 8 and under boys’ 25 free and 25 back
Leyre-Bonel Muras 8 and under girls’ 25, 50 free and 50 back
Catie Samouelian 8 and under girls’ 25 back and 50 fly
Jack Bassett 10 and under 50 free
Claire Tomasek 10 and under girls’ 100 breast and 200 free
Tyler Bassett 10 and under 50 breast
Nishil Arora 10 and under boys’ 50 back
Harper Ringold 10 and under 50 back
Christian Campbell 8 and under boys’ 50 fly
Beckham Leith 10 and under 50 back and 50 fly
Mary Bailey 10 and under 50 breast and 50 fly

In the 1000,
Scott Hassett 15 and up
Layla Woerner 11-12
Demetra Bicos 15 and up

There were many great swims in the afternoon, but we are still waiting for the official results to post.

It was a looooong, but successful meet. I know there were some hiccups. Flint was not prepared (but they were very grateful) for our large entry. During the COVID pandemic, we lost several Y teams. The teams that are left are struggling to figure out how to run a successful meet without losing money. I am so grateful to our board for ensuring that our meets run well!

We have distributed goal sheets. Now that we have had two meets, swimmers are encouraged to fill them out with their new times and bring them to a practice in a plastic bag with a pen and coaches will review their progress and help them set goals for the future.

Happy Halloween & Weekly Reminders!

Posted by Birmingham Blue Dolphins at Oct 31, 2022 8:11AM PDT

Happy Halloween!!

We’ve had a great treat! United States Swimming has recognized BBD as a “Bronze Level Club” for 2023 as part of their Club Excellence program! We are one of four clubs in Michigan to be so honored and the only YMCA team. This comes our way because of the performance of two of our elite athletes: Gus MacDonald and Ethan Schwab. Both Gus and Ethan have grown up in our program. Thank you, gentlemen, for making us look good. In the new year we will have a very cool banner hanging at the Y.

Eleven-twelve year old swimmers have another opportunity to participate in a camera clinic Thursday at Covington if you didn’t get a chance two weeks ago. It is from 5:30-7:30. We still have regular practice. Register at the Sign-Up Genius link here: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/30e0f4ba4a728a4fd0-11121

Because of the enrollment in the Flint Meet, there will be no practices this Sunday. See you at Milford High School!

Some reminders: Please make sure young swimmers have their events on their hand BEFORE arriving at the meet. Pick up any awards before leaving the meet.

Parents, remember to escort your swimmers into and from our venues for safety’s sake.

Thank you to our parents who supplied treats for our swimmers this week. I know they enjoyed the marshmallow treats, the sliders and the doughnuts!

Have a fun and safe Halloween, and don’t forget that all practices tonight are canceled!
