••• PLEASE SEE THE EMAIL SENT FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS •••

The 2024 Michigan YMCA 9 & Over State Championship meet held at Saginaw Valley State University on March 2-3, 2024 is now open for entries. This meet is a required meet for all swimmers who have achieved 9 & Up YMCA State Qualifying times, except for high school boys. The deadline for entry is Thursday, February 22 at 8pm. No late entries can be accepted!

If you miss the sign-up, your child will not be able to swim because there are no deck entries. I highly recommend signing up as soon as you receive this email and double check your entry. You can always adjust entries any time before the deadline if needed (don’t forget to click SAVE). Any new qualifiers from YMCA 8&under States will need to email their qualified event if they desire swimming at this meet.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY (BONUS SWIMS): If your child has at least one qualifying time, you will receive an extra email alerting you to the meet available for entry in your Parent Portal. Swimmers who have achieved only 1 or 2 individual event time standards may supplement their entry with bonus events so that the total of individual events (qualified event(s) plus bonus swims) equals 3 individual events for the meet (i.e., 1 qualified time can add 2 bonus or 2 qualified with 1 bonus).

••• Email bbdentries@gmail.com with your child’s bonus swims (event # and name) BEFORE the entry deadline on 2/22/23 at 8pm, if you want “bonus” swims added! •••

IMPORTANT ••• BBD is hosting this meet •••, therefore volunteers are needed to run a smooth, successful meet. At least one person is REQUIRED to volunteer for EACH session your child is swimming. We cannot make this meet happen without you! Please see the signup genius below for volunteer signup and please pay close attention to signing up for the correct sessions (ie 13&overs in the AM sessions and 12&unders in the PM sessions). Thank you in advance for your willingness to help out.

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

Congratulations on an outstanding Circle City Meet! Our team finished second overall, and our boys won their portion of the meet. We had three new YMCA National Meet qualifiers: Quinn Norlander, Calvin Meeker and Turner Worth. Two of our boys won individual high-point awards for their age group. Ozan Saraydar took the 9-10 boys, Angus MacDonald broke five Circle City meet records and collected the high-point award for the Open Boys.

Angus won the 200 and 400 IMs, the 200 free, the 100 breast and the 200 breast (Joey Stebbins was second, Charlie McCuiston third, and Nate Stebbins fourth). Ozan Saraydar took the 9-10 50 and 100 fly and the 100 free. Mary Bailey was the champion in the 9-10 50 and 100 breast and the 50 free. Other firsts came from Joey Stebbins in the Open 200 back, Nico Bonel-Muras in 13-14 100 free, Jack McCuiston in the 13-14 100 breast (Charlie Michael was second,) and Ruichen (Ethan) Xu set a new team record when he won the Open 200 fly.

All of our swimmers were busy dropping time, qualifying for various championship meets, meeting professional basketball players and dance moms—-truly a memorable weekend.

We are about to enter the exciting championship season…..we have meets and clinics etc. Our seniors are finding out where they will be next year. Everyone stay healthy and pray for good weather!
